Sinopsis :
Merideth Cole is an AWOL corporal with a military record of misbehavior. She boards an American Auto Coach bus bound to El Paso, Texas. On their way, they are harassed by several biker nomads and hit one bike, injuring its driver and killing its passenger. As they stop to help, the biker draws a pistol and kills Danny Gunn the bus driver. Stray shots from the biker also wound Merideth and Joey Ryan (a female passenger). After fighting back, Jerry Yarbro (a high school coach) retrieves the biker's weapon, while Walter Lindley (a fellow passenger) retrieves the bus driver's keys. As they flee down the highway, Joey dies from her injuries. Taking a side road at the Coach's insistence, the bus crashes into an abandoned salvage yard killing Walter.
The surviving bus passengers barricade themselves in the salvage yard. That evening, they make a plan to hold out in the compound while Maudie McMinn (a marathoner) crosses 20 miles of desert to reach the nearest town for help. As the remaining survivors fight back with captured guns, Annabel's target bow, and Ramon's jury-rigged cannon, Maudie gets away from the compound. In the desert, Maudie meets up with Sergeant Archie Sparks, who has been chasing Merideth, and they kill some more bikers. The two make it back to the compound during the middle of the final confrontation, in which bikers injure Ramon and kill Duke, Desiree, and Jerry. The survivors�Sam, Merideth, Annabel and Ramon�are driven to the nearest town by Maudie and Archie.
Later at a hospital, Maudie reunites with her daughters, and Merideth again evades the army (this time with Archie's help). Outside, she joins Sam and Annabel as they head back out on the road in a minivan.
